Tournament of Champions Results
The game started out unlike many of the others we have had. This time there were more chips at the start and no rebuys allowed. Two of the more experienced players in tournaments were expecting to see many players lose quickly and leave, but that was not the case. During the fist hour we normally see 50% or more of the players lose all of their chips and have to rebuy. In this game not a single player went out before the first break.
The first casualty was David, coming off a string of money wins, he was eliminated when his pocket jacks ran into pocket aces early in the third blind level. During that level we soon saw 3 more players eliminated and then another at the beginning of the next level. With 11 players left the game slowed down a little as everyone wanted to make it to the final table. At the beginning of the next level we lost Joe, the first of our undefeated players to drop out. Over the next few hands we lost 2 more players and were down to the final 8.
At the final table the play went slowly at first with many lead changes. Adam started out as the chip leader, but quickly lost it when he played a poor hand to double up Hamlet on the short stack. Josh had the lead at this point but it didn't last for long, since Hamlet won a few more key hands and taking the lead meanwhile moving Adam down to a short stack. The final table went for nearly an hour before Justin fell to Hamlets growing chip count. Jeff was the next to lose once again to Hamlet. Adam then on the short stack was forced all in with a little more then the big blind. Called by Rich and Hamlet. Rich moved all in after the flop with ATs and was called after a long deliberation by Hamlet with JJ. Meanwhile Adam had A3 and caught a 3 on the turn to triple up while Hamlets Jacks held up to eliminate Rich, the second undefeated player to leave, in 6th Place.
With 5 Players left everyone wanted to make the money. Josh made a strong raise to 8000 with the blinds at 2000, Adam then went all in with a little more then 10,000 chips and was called by Hamlet and then Josh. They checked it down to the river where Adam revealed pocket Aces for the win and the chip lead. Josh, as the final undefeated player, with only wins previously lasted for another round as the short stack before being eliminated by Adam. With the big blind at 3000 Kevin was forced to play for his last 3200 chips from the big blind out surviving as a short stack for over an hour. With all three remaining players calling him, we was able to quadruple up when he caught a straight.
Kevin continued to grow his stack and soon Hamlet was all in as the short stack and eliminated by Adam, taking 4th place. The next hand Glenn went to steal the blinds by moving all in and Adam called with a pocket pair. The pair held up and Glenn took home 3rd. Heads up play went on for half almost half an hour between Kevin and Adam, with the chips shifting back and forth. Kevin was eliminated after being short stacked on the previous hand. Giving Adam the win and the championship.
So after 5 hours of play a Champion was crowned. I look foward to reading about how everyone felt the tournament was run and what changes they would like to see in the future. Please post you comments here.

Results of Poker Tournament Friday September 23
This tournament was the second run with the new rules and new tournament manager. The game was set up as a $10 game, but the average spent was $34. I felt the rebuys and addons added more excitement to the game and got more action in the first hour. The only change I plan on making for the next game is to have the blinds accelerate a little quicker after the second break. Please post any comments you have on how the game went or changes you would like to see for the next game.
The tournament results are as follows:
There were 15 players, with 22 rebuys and 14 addons. The total prize pool was 510 and was distributed as follows:
1st Place pete - 254
2nd Place Justin - 128
3rd Place Kevin D. - 77
4th Place David - 51

What to Bring
There is no need to bring anything when coming to my house to play poker. I do not require my guest to pay anything or bring anything. I usually provide soda and some snacks.
That being said, some people have been asking what they can bring to the games. I do not provide beer so, if you plan on drinking please bring your own beverages with enough to share. Gary has been kind enough to always provide ice for the games, so as long as he is coming there is no need to bring any. Also Tom may be donating a fridge which will reduce the need for ice in the future.
As far as food, please only bring food that does not make a mess and is easily shared. Pretzels and M+M's are always good choices. Carrots and celery are a nice healthy option, but please no dip. Also no chips since they usually make hands greasy and can get seasoning everywhere. Resulting in the need for new decks of cards halfway through the night.
We also use 2-6 decks of cards a week, so new unopened decks are always helpful.

Game Cancelled
Friday's game was cancelled so there are no results to post. I can post that since there was no game I was able to get a lot of work done on the hardwood floor I am installing in the second bedroom and was able to complete the installation this weekend. I just need to install the moulding and touch up the damage that I did to the walls during installation.

In first place was MS that was able to collect over $300 dollars. I would like to thank everyone for participating and for their generous contributions. I am sure that you were all much happier to contribute to a worthy charity rather then to your hosts. But what kind of hosts would we be if one of us did not still win even though it was for charity. So of the players Melanie came in first place and gets the T-Shirt.
The placing was as follows:
1st Melanie - T-Shirt
2nd Eric
3rd Tom
4th Amy, 5th Elana, 6th Ted, 7th Adam, 8th Gary, 8th Dan, 10th Jeff

Also if anyone who played in the last tournaments thinks any of the rules need to be modified please let me know.
If anyone would like to stop recieving these emails please let me know and I will remove you from the list.
The game will be the same as before 20 buy-in with unlimited rebuys in the first hour if you go broke or nearly broke. I will decide the amount of chips later, probably 2000 and the rebuy point is less then 500. If anyone would like a full copy of the rules, send me an email and I will send them out.
Only the first 16 players to respond can attend.
Please let me know if you are interested or if you know of anyone else I should invite. As always please respond only to me.
